The Earth Walk Mental Health Support Community’s The Great Tasmania Walk of HOPE.
On the 16th of May 2015, Christopher Neil Linton, aka The Earth Walk Man, became the first person in recorded history to circumambulate the entire perimeter of Tasmania, Australia, some 1,400km, taking 300 walk-hours, over 46-days.
In doing so, not only did The Great Tasmanian Walk of HOPE’s expedition set three world records, 2 each for father-son Christopher Neil Linton and KelvynCharles Young-Hyeon Linton
- 19th of April 2015 – Christopher Neil Linton and Kelvyn Charles Young-Hyeon Linton: The first father-son team in recorded history to walk across Tasmania, Australia from Port Arthur to Devonport, almost 600km over 19-days ( counter-clockwise along the outer Eastern perimeter, a shared record )
- 19th of April 2015 – Kelvyn Charles Young-Hyeon Linton ( aged 14 ): The youngest person in recorded history to walk across Tasmania ( route described above )
- 16th of May 2015 – Christopher Neil Linton: The first person in recorded history to Circumambulate Tasmania, Australia – along paved thru-roads counter-clockwise, some 1,400km, 300 walk-hours, over 46-days.
but The Great Tasmanian Walk of HOPE successfully generated significant TV, Radio, Newspaper, magazine, and social media coverage toward the awareness of mental health issues and in combating the stigma associated with those that live with mental health. The Great Tasmanian Walk for HOPE raised significant funds for The Black Dog Institute.
